The
site on Main St has gone through a few different owners in
the past 150 years. From 1852 until the early 1900's a man
named McCartney owned the premises, a women named Horner and
then a minister, Rev George Hammil who inherited the premises from his wife
(a sister of Mrs. Horner).
His ownership was short lived and the premises then came under the ownership of Gwynns. Firstly John and the Tommy Gwynn. Harry Owens came from Co Tyrone to work for Tommy (his Uncle) in 1926, he renovated the bar in 1929 from a thatched building to the building at present.
In 1960 Harry Owens then sold the bar to the present day owner Mr. Frank Owens. The facade and interior have basically unchanged over these years.
